REGULAR ENTRANCE REQUISITES

When passing the borders, in order to enter the territory and reside in the Schengen area, foreign citizens must be in possession of:

• passport or other equivalent document valid for passing borders
• entrance visa, if envisaged for the citizens of that State
• means of support
• not considered dangerous for public order, national safety or not declared inadmissible

Entrance is denied to foreign citizens (art. 4, Lgs.D. n. 286/1998):

• when regular entrance requisites are not satisfied
• when considered a threat for public order or the State’s safety or the safety of one of the Countries with which Italy has agreements as regards the suppression of controls at internal borders and free circulation of people
• when reported as inadmissible in the Schengen informative system
• when sentenced for specific crimes
